3D Modeling

Stygius was modeled in Autodesk Fusion 360. The model includes all hardware, rigging, and electronics. Most of the blade is comprised of more regular curves and were modeled in the solid and surface workspaces in Fusion. The skull and flame laurel were sculpted with T-splines in the form workspace.

Design Internals

Stygius is designed with the blade as the main support core. It houses all the electronics and connects directly to the PVC handle. The skull hilt connects to the blade with magnets at the base of the blade, as will the chevrons at the bottom of the blade. The rune panel will be laser cut out of acrylic sheet, and this will slide into the blade from the bottom, using small channels to hold it in place. The green runes and pommel gems will be resin cast and glued in. Lastly, the assembled pommel fits into the end of the PVC handle with just friction fit. Leather wrap will finish the handle.
