LEDs and Other Electrical Components

The blade is illuminated with one long strip of LEDs, specifically the Ultra Skinny Neopixel 1515 strip from Adafruit. These are the thinnest strips that I could find (4 mm wide) and just barely fit inside a blade this thin. The gem has a single LED behind it (Neopixel Reverse Mount SK6812-E).

The power source is a 2500 mAh Li-Poly battery that fits into a slot just below the base of the blade. It is wired into a PowerBoost 1000 Basic to boost it to 5V. This 5V line powers both the LEDs and the arduino controller (Adafruit ItsyBitsy 32u4). Most of the components are stuffed into a cavity in the guard, just under where the gem is mounted. The blade LEDs and the gem LEDs are connected with JST quick connectors for removal if disassembly is needed for travel or storage.
